This week, we activated the Chickamauga Battlefield (US-0716) from the recreation field location. The weather was gorgeous, and the local wildlife was out in full force. A Bald Eagle flew over the road as I approached the park, and as usual, there were deer everywhere enjoying the day. The space weather also cooperated and the bands were active, which was a good thing with several operators activating at once. Band pass filters are handy when multiple transmitters are close together.

Ed KM6UTC set up in his back seat ham shack and made 47 FT8 contacts on 40 and 30 meters. No DX contacts.

Danny AG4DW set up his elevated vertical at the picnic tables and made 64 total QSO's on 20 meters. 42 were SSB and 22 were FT8. He had 6 DX contacts to Canada with 28 Park to Park contacts.

Allen KN4FKS used his 17 ft. vertical with the Faraday cloth radials and made 20 SSB contacts on 15 meters. He had 7 P2P contacts. with two P2P DX contacts to England and one DX P2P to Denmark. He also had 8 total DX contacts with the others being Canada(2), Norway, Belgium, and Argentina.

Barry W4LKT, Micha K3WGC, Dan K2DTS, and John KB4QXI also activated the Battlefield on Thursday but I don't have their totals as of yet. If they want they can reply and update everyone.

In Other POTA activity on Monday Oct 26 Allen Kn4FKS activated the Trail of Tears US-3791 from the Fort Cumming stockade site on Indiana street in Lafayette. This little 100 ft by 100 ft grassy area has a historical marker about the place. It is surrounded on two sides by an 8 ft chain link fence and the other two sides are powerlines. There is enough room to park one car off the street. He made 36 20 meter SSB contacts with 16 P2P and 5 DX contacts, 4 to Canada and one to St. Lucia. Also on Monday Danny AG4DW did a multi park rove. He activated Bark Camp Barrens US-7567, Hickory Flats WMA US-3944, May Prairie State Natural Area US-6255, Short Spring State Natural Area US-6268 and Old Stone Fort State Park US-2963. This effort took Danny over the 100 unique parks activated mark for a new total of 102 different parks he has activated. Congratulations on this achievement. Then on Wednesday He went to Cloudland Canyon State Park US-2169 and activated at the Ascalon Trail Head site. where he had 113 total QSO's 45 SSB and 68 FT8 on 40, 20 and 15 meters. He had 30 DX contacts total with 7 to Canada, 6 to Germany, 6 to Spain Chile, France, Columbia, Netherlands Czech Republic, Norway, and Switzerland. On Tuesday Ed KM6UTC activated the Trail of Tears US 3791 from a different location. In downtown Chattanooga Market street is part of the trail. The POTA rule for trails is you can be 100 ft off the trail so Ed set up his Mag Loop antenna across the sidewalk from the street and made 35 contacts on FT8 before his parking meter expired!

Lots of activity, fun time on the radio.
